President - Paradise Unified Teachers Association:  July 1993 - June 1999

 

Responsibilities:  Conduct monthly meetings with representatives from 11 different school sites throughout our district to discuss direction of our 284 member teacher’s association, meet regularly with site and district administration to give input and feedback and solve problems which may occur, monitor contract negotiations, facilitate the issuing of $3000 of scholarships to graduating seniors, the maintaining of positive relations among teachers and with district personnel.

  Responsibilities: Prevent grievances between teachers and our district administration, all grievance were solved at the informal level before they were formal.

Responsibilities:  Coordinate Mount Lassen’s Annual Spring Conference for approximately 300 teachers (includes securing a keynote speaker, overall theme, facilities, a program booklet, 60 individual session speakers, lunch and conference evaluations) and provide opportunities for Northern California’s Math Teachers to share ideas and socialize.

Responsibilities: Help develop the State of California Math A (a pre-algebra course that is manipulative based and hands-on conceptually developed) curriculum, pilot and modified the curriculum, in-service teachers in the northern half of the state on the curriculum and a variety of teaching techniques.
